∖ Solo Exhibition ∖ IT IS COMING
February 1–28, 2025 ∖ Vilnius
If, like me, you find yourself wondering what this IT might be, we can assume that IT is everything and, at the same time, nothing.
Looking at these abstract works, we may see everything within them: growing, trembling jungles, or, metaphorically speaking, the concrete jungles of today, in which we sometimes find ourselves overwhelmed and submerged; cities and natural horizons. Or perhaps we see absolutely nothing at all — randomly scattered images, pixels, points marking the beginning of the universe.
One of the more important elements in the artist’s practice — or rather, a tool within her creative strategy — is artificial intelligence, which is coming, has already arrived, and has become part of our everyday lives. In this sense, too, it is coming.
The exhibition It Is Coming reflects the artist’s practice of recent years and explores the emotional vibrations of ourselves and of beings within the universe. Through watercolor, Yuge Kurt creates stories and narrative sequences that each viewer expands through their own personal experiences. Over the past several years, the artist has also actively explored artificial intelligence and incorporated it into her creative strategy. She uses AI as a tool for reinterpretation and experimentation, bringing together things that might otherwise seem impossible to combine:
“AI is a tool for me; conceptually, it is no different from a painter’s palette. With paint, you mix colors; with AI, you change — or mix — parameters.”
About the artist:
Yuge Kurt holds a Master of Arts degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and is a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. Since 2000, she has actively participated in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and internationally.
It Is Coming is the artist’s seventh solo exhibition, bringing together the demanding and meticulous medium of watercolor with AI technologies. Her artistic practice is characterised by watercolor works created with an apparently light, painterly touch and expressed through fresh, vivid colour palettes. This reflects a consistent creative process through which the artist continues to discover and develop her distinctive visual language.
